Overview:
Financial Analyst should have an ability to apply financial acumen to understand complex business scenarios and a willingness to assume responsibility for a broad range of evolving priorities. This position requires solid communications skills, a strong analytical background, and the ability to develop self-guided analysis of opportunities throughout business units.
Responsibilities:- Become the subject matter expert on all financial items related to the business
- Update periodic sales performance reporting
- Create periodic revenue dashboards.
- Process monthly commissions and work with sales lead on periodic sales goals
- Initiate ad-hoc business analysis alerting management to issues before they become trends
- Develop effective financial models to evaluate impact of new initiatives
- Track company performance and industry news/trends
- Assist with the implementation of new strategic initiatives
- Develop competitive analyses by assembling key market indicators, benchmark data, and metrics
- Serve as a liaison between multiple groups across all of tronc’s business units
Qualifications:
- 4 year bachelors degree required, MBA a plus
- Finance, Statistics, Accounting, Economics, Business Management majors a plus
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis role
- Strong analytical skills: ability to gather, analyze, summarize, and present data
- Attention to details and process critical for success
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills (vlookups, Pivot tables, charts, functions, formulas, macros, etc)
- Self starter, innovative with an “intellectual curiosity” to understand key category metrics and provide recommendations on how to optimize yield
- Experience using PeopleSoft Financial, Business Objects, and Essbase a plus
