The Front End Developer will play a key role in supporting existing Sittercity products and contributing to new product initiatives. As a user interface engineer, you'll collaborate with our product and design teams to define technical implementation and interaction details, and use your experience of UI development to implement prototypes and testable POCs, as well as production code.

We’re looking for a talented developer capable of crafting best-in-class experiences for our parents and sitters while teaching us new tricks and techniques. You’ll spend most your time coding and the rest defining and developing the next generation of Sittercity products.

What You’ll Do 

·      Craft high-quality user interfaces that are maintainable and scalable in a Ruby environment

·      Maintain and enhance existing products, including Sittercity.com, Admin, Blog, and iOS/Android mobile web views

·      Develop JavaScript using standard frameworks, jQuery, Angular, etc.

·      Create custom JavaScript libraries for reuse across applications using standard architectures

·      Apply design to web pages using CSS with emphasis on responsive layouts and components

·      Ensure appropriate quality standards are applied to all development work

·      Work with engineering team members on best practices, code reviews, internal tools and process improvements

·      Utilize Lean and Agile methodologies to deliver sophisticated and smart customer experiences

·      Research and evaluate new technologies and services and be able to apply these to build a better product

·      Simplify complex problems

·      Evangelize development standards and UX best practices

·      Conduct periodic knowledge sharing sessions

Job Requirements

·      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, relevant field, or commensurate experience

·      3+ years of experience with front end digital tools and languages

·      Proficiency in authoring semantic HTML5, CSS3 (SASS) and JavaScript (jQuery, CoffeeScript)

·      Experience creating responsive web sites for multiple browser and devices

·      Strong expertise with a common JS framework, YUI, Prototype, or jQuery (preferred)

·      Experience with Node.js, Flux architecture and React.js a plus

·      Knowledge of automated testing frameworks

·      Good understanding of how to work in an Agile environment using Git

·      Prior experience with Google Analytics, Omniture, BrightTag/Signal, Test & Target is a plus

·      Curiosity and the ability to learn and adopt new technologies
