We are currently seeking a Front End Web Developer with a proven track record applying their expertise in front-end web development to the design and development of new-media commercial products.  The Front End Web Developer will join our fast paced team and be responsible for all phases of the front-end development -- from UI design through page coding --for our cutting edge mobile marketing and advertising products.

The Front End Web Developer is a unique opportunity to leverage your UI expertise for the design and development of digital marketing products.  Among other things, the top candidate will have a passion for building beautiful and functional web pages and is a champion for semantic HTML who cringes at table-based layout.  They also love the power of cascading style sheets and understand the need for separation of style, content and layout.  The professional we place never sacrifices elegant design, has a strong sense of aesthetics and prefers text editor rather than Photoshop.   This position is located in downtown Chicago at 300 West Adams.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all phases of front-end development for our products from UI design through page coding
  • Work closely and effectively with engineers to define, implement and refine features
  • Participate in the creation of UI elements for our desktop application using similar Web technologies
  • Understand the business implication associated with each project before going into design and development
  • Participate in designing, estimating effort, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, integrating and documenting software
  • Apply generally accepted programming standards and design patterns to software development efforts
  • Create operation manuals and tutorials for front-end products
  • Assist support and operations in resolving configuration and technical issues in a “last tier” support capacity
  • Participate in design and code reviews of software components to assure detailed technical requirements and implementation meet feature requirements
  • Refactor and maintain existing code as needed
  • Develop systems to interface and integrate with various vendors and clients
  • Work independently as well as with others and report progress of assigned deliverables to technical and team leads

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant system web development experience
  • Excellent Web UI skills with a special focus on standards compliance and usability
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Proven track record developing Web based applications more-so than Web sites
  • Experience in a fast paced, digital marketing and/or advertising environment highly preferred and mobile industry experience a big plus
  • Expert knowledge of XHTML, CSS and strong understanding of the DOM
  • Expert in browser idiosyncrasies (IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera) across platforms
  • Referenced portfolio of projects
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX and jQuery
  • Experience with version control systems such as Subversion
  • Understanding of server technologies and the HTTP protocol
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to estimate effort, meet schedule deadlines and track to a project schedule
  • Hands-on experience with Agile development practices
  • Passion for innovation and efficiency:  proven track record implementing internal process improvements
  • Ability to build and maintain internal partnerships across all levels and departments, including product, operations, sales, creative, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Professional, high-integrity, reliable, organized, driven and results-oriented
  • Superior MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
