Full-Stack Software Developer
The $200 billion beverage industry is antiquated and everything from performing inventory to placing orders from vendors is still done by paper and pen for 95% of restaurants and bars. There is a very large opportunity to provide value-added tools to help the over 350,000 US establishments that serve alcohol better manage their beverage inventory, menus, ordering and provide analytics and data to help improve operations.
We are looking for a hands-on, super smart Developer to join us in tackling this fun industry with enormous opportunity. We need someone who is a full-stack generalist who will oversee and develop across our entire platform. We are a small team, with three people in Chicago and you will be taking the reins to lead all development efforts.
You will spend 80% of your time helping build and develop new web and mobile products and 20% of your time on our existing product. You will have decision-making authority to decide on the best technologies and frameworks for the job and have autonomy in creating, testing and deploying web and mobile products. If you enjoy beer, spirits or wine, you’ll get to work with your interests on a daily basis.
Some example projects on our 2017 roadmap may include:
- Development of a web and mobile automated inventory system
- Development of a web application to connect restaurants with their vendors, place and track orders, and create communication channels between the parties
- Integrate with restaurant point-of-sale systems directly or through the use of third-party APIs
- Enhance our suite of beverage analytics tools
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years professional work experience programming with object oriented programming languages
- Degree in Computer Science or a technical field
- Excellent grasp of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ability to hand-code raw JS and experience with multiple frameworks)
- Understanding of DevOps to deploy and maintain server infrastructure, including knowledge of proper security and backup practices
- Strong knowledge of database technologies, including MySQL
- Experience with mobile development preferred (or a desire to quickly learn mobile tech). Ideally cross-platform application frameworks such as Cordova, React Native and/or Ionic
- Demonstrated ability to write clean, test-driven code.
What We Provide
- A fun work environment where you’ll have a direct impact on the company
- Significant stock options
- Medical, dental and vision insurance
- Free snacks, beer, wine & drinks
- Free gym, pool and roof deck in the building
This is an opportunity to join a small company generating revenue, with large potential in an exciting industry. This role is suited for someone who wants to be involved in a small startup at the ground floor and have significant up-side equity potential and lead all development efforts. You’ll be an early employee helping us build Uncorkd’s culture. If all of this excites you, we’d love to talk further.
