More specifically you will:
- Convert and implement raw image mockups and functional requirements into fully-functional static/dynamic pages with minimal direction.
- Work with product managers and business analysts to rapidly fix and resolve functional, flow or design issues.
- Develop, maintain, and support mission-critical applications while working closely with team members to provide project and ongoing operational support for applications and databases.
- Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to internal clients.
- Analyze, review and modify web systems by designing, maintaining, documenting, testing, developing and monitoring them.
- Code to current web standards and follow best practices, including techniques for web accessibility.
- Set-up and maintain your personal development environment.
- Maintain and support current code base, including content changes.
- Work with other developers and the Content team to implement new functionality and projects, and work with other teams to understand requirements for page development.
- Participate in support rotation and troubleshoot production issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cross-browser issues in a timely manner.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new web libraries and frameworks for adoption in the application development process.
- Architect page template structures, folders, and file organizations for web application development.
- Set Peapod’s web standards and follow industry best practices, including techniques for web accessibility.
Required Experience
- Web development experience.
- Solid experience with hand-coded CSS, XML, XHTML, Schema and DTD; this includes complex, table-less layouts and inheritance.
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript, including AJAX techniques and technologies, DOM, JQuery and JSON.
- Experience with the following is a HUGE plus: Servlets and JSP, including EL; a Java-based MVC framework, ideally Spring; SQL and RDBMS and MYSQL and /or Informix.
- Knowledge of Web Services.
- Familiarity with SEO concepts.
- Possesses a sense of design, an eye for detail and an innate desire to produce quality work.
- Has the desire and ability to trace issues to their source; even when those issues lie outside the boundaries of your code.
- Ability to follow established practices where they exist, and recognize where new ones would be beneficial.
