THE JELLYVISION LAB NEEDS AN INTERACTIVE MEDIA PRODUCER

Founded by the creator of the YOU DON'T KNOW JACK® game series, The Jellyvision Lab, Inc. creates virtual teachers, advisors, and salespeople who make online learning and decision making delightful.  In all that we do, our goal is to make complex topics simple and boring material interesting, using a combination of great design, unexpectedly funny content, and serious technology.  

Of all the virtual people Jellyvision has created, the tallest and least afraid of bears is ALEX® (www.meetalex.com). ALEX helps companies talk their employees through the tricky choices they’ll have to make, like picking a health insurance plan, deciding how much to put in the 401(k), or whether they might want extra life insurance. Our customers love ALEX because he helps their employees figure out what’s best for their personal situations, which, in turn, saves our customers a boat-load of time and money - everybody wins! As we sell more and more of ALEX, we need more and more non-virtual (i.e., real life) people to keep the virtual ones amazing. That’s where you come in.

THAT’S LOVELY, BUT WHAT’S THE JOB?

As an Interactive Media Producer, you'll help our team develop and build our interactive products. You’ll be chiefly responsible for the way our products feel, marrying your media production skills with a firm grasp of conditional logic. The magical baby resulting from this marriage is a precisely timed, seamless, wonderfully engaging interactive conversation. By piecing together approximately one bazillion media assets (sound effects, voice talent audio, text, art and other elements) per conversation, Interactive Media Producers help us manage our branching interactive experiences via our proprietary authoring environment.

Responsibilities include…

• Acting as the hub of production knowledge and project communication for your interdependent team.
• Ensuring the seamlessness, ease of use, and ease of understanding of our interactive conversations.
• Managing the conditional logic of our products to ensure a unique, individualized experience for every user.
• Collaborating with multimedia professionals (including artists and composers) to create an engaging, delightful experience.
• Coordinating with engineers to integrate more complicated logic.
• Reviewing bug reports and triaging them with our QA department.
  

Interactive Media Producers MUST:

• Pay outrageous attention to detail. Seeing as you’re the master of how our products feel, that means you must be detail-oriented in regard to timing, text placement and overall ease of understanding.
• Have very strong logic and troubleshooting skills.
• Be able to manage minute tasks while keeping a keen eye on the big picture of a project.
• Have great creative judgment. You’ll need to know funny, polished, clever, and clear when you see it, and when you don’t, how to get to it.
• Show fearlessness in the face of learning new technologies.
• Have a strong work ethic and a mind for deadlines. Our projects run on strict schedules, and you (like everyone else in this joint) must possess amazing time management skills and the ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadline constraints.
• Possess outstanding communication and listening skills. The ability to give and take direction positively and constructively is key to what we do around here.
• Be a collaborative contributor and able to flourish on an interdependent team.
• Be flexible. Being able to improvise and rework under tight deadlines is essential.
  

WHAT KIND OF SKILLS DO I NEED?

You should have experience with:

Time-based media editing and production programs, specifically Adobe CS production tools.
Experience with HTML 5 / CSS 3 / JavaScript.
Leading projects and collaborating with small creative teams.
Understanding of, and interest in, interactive media.
Media management and organization skills.
Basic design principles: composition, use of space, work with typography, legibility.

Bonus points for experience with:

User Experience Design and/or Interaction Design.
Directing Voice Talent.
Creating motion graphics animations with Adobe After Effects.
Any video production experience: lighting, recording, audio.
