Leapfrog Online is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to assist in building scalable systems that are consistently monitored, while maintaining the overall goals of automation, reliability and inter-team collaboration. This is a hands-on position that will have direct influence over all aspects of Leapfrog Online's systems infrastructure.

This position is responsible for assisting software engineers, test engineers and marketing operations resources in such roles as troubleshooting, DNS requests, software deployment and monitoring. 
 

Responsibilities:

• Real-time monitoring and management of incoming requests and alerts from both users and systems.
• Participation in the ongoing maintenance of system infrastructure while working closely with our software engineers and test engineering.
• Maintaining both customer-facing and internal systems and working across teams to make the most appropriate decisions to support the business.
• Developing automation, orchestration and monitoring systems to ensure the highest levels of stack stability, availability and performance.
• Although we strive to keep work within regular hours, there will be occasional off-hours work to support the needs of the business.
• You are expected to act as a professional in both an engineering and a supporting role at all times.

Here are a few examples of recent work that you would be helping with if you worked here:

• Prototype packer-based deployment of server images.
• Prototype docker-based images for automating puppet testing.
• Rewrite puppet manifests to increase automation and take advantage of new software features.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 years experience relating to system administration, network administration or data center management.
• Intensive knowledge of and a preference towards the Unix (Linux, FreeBSD, OS X) operating system and be comfortable with virtualization concepts.
• Programming experience in Bash, Python, Ruby or Perl.
• Working knowledge of source control management – preferable Git.
• Experience and willingness to work with and learn: Puppet, Apache, Nginx, HA Proxy, Ruby, Python, PostgreSQL, Varnish, RabbitMQ and Nagios.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; we do work with hardware so there is a need to lift and rack servers, storage and networking equipment.
• Experience with other automated testing tools, mobile device testing, continuous integration tools, source control management tools, documentation tools and system monitoring tools a plus
