About The Position

Raise is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our DevOps squad. In this position, you will lead and develop the Platform Engineers, who are responsible for designing and implementing a cloud infrastructure to support our next generation microservices platforms. At Raise we embrace automation and infrastructure as code as a means of empowering the Delivery squads’ frictionless ownership of applications and services. The ideal candidate has a background in developing distributed applications, cloud technologies, and delivering self-service infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall design and delivery of our next generation technology platform
• Work with the rest of the engineering organization to build automated processes for managing application and service deployments
• Collaborate closely with Engineering teams to understand the behaviors and configuration of underlying applications and services
• Own and support underlying infrastructure and cross-cutting services such as logging and monitoring

Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years experience with high availability, concurrent, large-scale distributed infrastructures
• 5+ years of engineering expertise and experience practicing Test-driven development (TDD) and paired programming
• 3+ years working in a highly collaborative environment
• Extensive experience with leading cloud technologies like Amazon Web Services
• Extensive experience with “infrastructure as code” and automation/configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible and Terraform as well as the selection process around these tools
• Extensive experience working with linux containers and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes and Helm
• Expertise in creating automated CI/CD Pipelines with tools such as Jenkins
• Strong background working in Linux/Unix environments
• Familiarity with network architectures and security best practices
• You love to develop software engineers as much as you love to develop software
• Ability to communicate technical concepts, possibilities and limitations to a non-technical audience
• High attention to detail and constructive attitude in peer code reviews
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or comparable experience
