This position is focused on streamlining current accounting processes and developing new functionality to serve SPINS and our clients more effectively and efficiently. Under the direction of the Controller, this position is a key contributor to the financial operations of SPINS by managing accounting functions with a high degree of integrity, reliability and consistency. The Accounting Manager will effectively manage general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable as well as payroll, and benefit reconciliation and auditing for the Spins Ventures businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of our various software systems and tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Provide internal and external auditing services for businesses or individuals.
  • Advise management about issues such as resource utilization and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Provide weekly status reports to the CFO and Finance Team
  • Closely monitor A/R balances to prevent future collection issues
  • Research billing issues and communicate results to Customers and Sales Team
  • Prepare journal entries for SPINS LLC as needed for monthly close
  • Accounting review of expense reports and administration of expense portal, Certify.com
  • Accounts Payable, invoice review and posting
  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts each month and identify and resolve reconciling items
  • Prepare fixed asset and depreciation schedules, insure proper recording of additions and disposals
  • Reconciling 1099 and distribution to consultants/contractors
Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 7 years progressive experience in accounting
  • Must have strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel user
  • Must have advanced problem solving and analytical skills
  • Able to be proactive to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • High level of demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to organize workload and daily workload volumes
  • Must be self-directed and effective working independently, yet equally comfortable contributing in a team environment
  • Accept direction and constructive criticism; perform calmly and effectively in an extremely busy work environment.
