The Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII) is the nation’s flagship research organization for applying cutting-edge digital technologies to reduce the time and cost of manufacturing, strengthen the capabilities of the U.S. supply chain, and reduce production costs.  The DMDII will develop, demonstrate, deploy and commercialize digital design and manufacturing technologies across key industries.

The Institute is seeking candidates for the position of Manager, Membership Engagement and Communications, for full-time employment in our downtown Chicago office.  

Primary role of the Manager, Member Engagement and Communications will be development and management of  a comprehensive program of outreach, communication and relationship management with current and prospective industry, government and academic partners for DMDII.  

Job responsibilities:

· Participate in development of overall strategy as well as the specific tactics to enhance DMDII's membership outreach.

· Build DMDII's roster of Tier 3 Industry Partners, with an eye toward identifying those small- and medium-sized businesses that are already actively involved in "digital manufacturing" and can make an immediate contribution to the technical work of the Institute.

·  Develop marketing and collateral materials which will explain the goals and methodologies of digital manufacturing to both professional and non-technical audiences.

·    Support the Director, Membership Engagement and Communications in recruiting new Tier 1 and Tier 2 Industry Partners, as well as Academic Partners, and to address the inquiries and requests that DMDII periodically receives from existing Tier 1 and Tier 2 Partners.

·   Represent DMDII face-to-face, and by telephone and written communications, to a wide variety of manufacturing trade associations, economic development agencies, non-profit organizations and government entities -- with particular emphasis on those located in the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois -- in an effort to spread the word of the Institute's activities and win the active support of such organizations.

·  Assist with the deployment of a new Customer Relationship Management software tool, a new email distribution system, and other related business processes and procedures.

Position Qualifications:

·  10+ years’ progressive career growth in sales or marketing in high technology or manufacturing

·  Proven track record in driving growth through development of sales pipelines, sales channels

·   Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies

Education:  Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering or science discipline required; MS or MBA preferred.
