The Healthcare Research & Analysis (HR&A) Internship is a key role in advancing AVIA’s future success by helping to build our digital healthcare expertise. HR&A Interns will be responsible for primary and secondary research on healthcare providers’ needs and the technology solutions that address those needs. Additionally, interns will review and analyze healthcare market, finance, and policy trends in order to help frame the complex problems that health systems are facing.
They must have a deep passion for improving healthcare and will quickly be immersed in multiple client engagements and research initiatives. The individual(s) selected for the role will have the opportunity to work with AVIA leadership and become an internal expert on market trends within the digital health space.

This internship will provide an opportunity to develop a significant level of understanding about the healthcare landscape while working on a differentiated new product launch, as part of the Market Strategies team within the organization.
Market Strategies at AVIA is responsible for identifying and connecting the strategic needs of health systems, an understanding of the market, and knowledge of emerging technologies together to set AVIA’s innovation agenda. Network health systems expect a ‘view’ on where and when to act that is current, practical, personalized, and demonstrates deep rigor in understanding the fundamentals.

This is a semester long internship with possibility for extension based on skill set and availability. 
The position is expected to build AVIA market expertise by focusing on the following responsibilities:
  • Market research: Research market trends in healthcare, technology, health finance and policy. Synthesize from many sources (e.g., health policy reports, industry journals, scientific literature) to identify implications of market intelligence for prior and future cohort topics and other AVIA products. Help lead the development of market opportunity, competitive analysis, and pro-forma analysis on new initiatives.
  • Company research: Assist teams researching innovative solutions companies, including product demos and management team conversations. Help lead the development of market opportunity, competitive analysis, and pro-forma analysis on new initiatives.
  • Knowledge management and project management: Organize firm knowledge about companies and trends in a consistent, scalable way. Bring a high level of organization and strong ability to communicate. Manage day-to-day aspects of key AVIA projects in order to ensure the execution of high-quality and timely work products.
  • Deliverable creation: Analysts are responsible for synthesizing and distilling information and identifying action. Analysts will analyze both quantitative and qualitative information and develop deliverables for clients (e.g., presentations, value calculations, briefs).
  • Client communication: Build understanding of client challenges and priorities, support interactions and presentations to executive level client committees and discussions.

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree (required)

  • Solid experience in qualitative research methods, along with high quality skills in strategic report writing

  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • High computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience working in investment (i.e., private equity, venture capital, investment banking) a plus, but not required
  • Previous experience in a health-related field a plus, but not required
