Shiftgig is actively seeking a Payroll and Benefits Manager to support the corporate finance and human resource team in supervising the payroll and benefits processing. This role will report directly to the VP of Human Resources and work closely with our VP of Finance. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll and benefits administration skills and experience working in a fast paced office environment for a high growth company.

Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Manage and guarantee weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to 160+ corporate employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Work cross functionally with payroll team and operations to ensure accurate payroll processing for 10000+ temporary workforce consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations are accurate and timely in payroll and related systems
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
  • Communicate with Operations, Accounting and HR to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing
  • Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)
  • Provide payroll reporting for workers compensation compliance
  • Determine payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments
  • Provide backup support to tasks of the Sr. Analyst, processing/reconciling company payrolls if needed
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, and processing one-off reimbursements
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Act as systems administrator for payroll and benefits systems

Benefits:

  • Recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations
  • Administers Health and Welfare benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, HRA, HSA)
  • Administers annual open enrollment process
  • Administers leave of absence programs in accordance with federal and state leave laws
  • Administers ACA tracking, reporting and filing
  • Administers 401K communication, enrollment and compliance audits / reporting
  • Administers transportation benefits (Divvy, Ventra and local FSA benefits)
  • Assists with processing Workers Compensation claims and audits
  • Assist with processing Unemployment Benefit claims and audits
  • Administers time off benefit tracking and compliance
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or other field which is directly applicable to the position is preferred
  • 5 years experience working in a multi-state payroll department
  • 2 years experience in HR generalist or Benefits administration
  • Proficient in Your Excel ( Pivot Tables and Vlookup etc)
  • You know your way around a payroll system; particularly ADP
  • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
  • You have lightning fast fingers, with a high WPM and accuracy to boot
  • You’re willing to work in an exciting, fast-moving, and dynamic industry and culture.
  • You have strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • You’re into data- picking it apart, analyzing it, and making intelligent decisions based with; all with extreme attention to detail.
  • You’re a team player; you take ad-hoc tasks in stride, and can thrive in a sometimes ambiguous environment that is constantly changing
