ParkWhiz is looking for an outstanding web software engineer to help extend and maintain a large, complex PHP codebase.  This is a contract-to-hire position, of at least 6 months, and will involve working on-site in our West Loop office every day along with the rest of the engineering team.

This individual will spearhead production support and bug fixes (~10-30%), while working on a few large and exciting projects (~70-90%).

The tech stack includes Linux, nginx, PHP, MariaDB (mysql), Redis, ElasticSearch, jQuery, LESS, S3 and Cloudfront, gulp, browserify, and more.

You'll get some challenging problems to work on - complex pricing models, GIS/geospatial data, transaction processing, mobile apps - and flexibility to choose the best tools for the job.

Skills and requirements:

• Ability to quickly learn large and complex systems
• Expert in web software, with strong PHP skills
• Strong abilities to write and understand moderately complex SQL, and familiar with mysql and postgres
• Basic knowledge of Javascript and jQuery
• Experience writing and consuming APIs
