At Edovo, our mission is to unlock the potential of every person affected by incarceration. We run a secure online platform to support the educational, vocational, and treatment needs of the 2.2 million people in jail and prison. Users have access to thousands of hours of self-guided learning materials with the option to continue their progress upon release. Edovo offers courses in subjects ranging from basic literacy and GED to career exploration and cognitive behavioral therapy.  We’re also building tools to keep people in touch with jobs, social services, friends, and family. The Role

The Product Manager - Device Strategy will be the first full-time Product Manager in this exciting, fast-growing, mission-driven startup.  Your work every day will be to create the tablet platform that makes all of our work possible.  

In this role, your first immediate responsibilities will be to:

1. Handle and define the lifecycle and support strategy for our existing tablet platform, including supply chain, QA, Mobile Device Management software, etc.

2. Define, plan, and implement future tablet platform - provide feedback and prioritize continued software development on tablet OS; assist in any required changes to case and hardware

3. Lead process to select the tablet for 2018 and beyond - gather requirements from team members, end users, and client stakeholders; work with external partners; solicit quotes; lead selection process; handle feedback on prototypes; ensure quality of final delivered product

This role will evolve to have additional responsibilities for the overall tablet security, device operating system, and mobile device management system.

Essential skills, mindsets, and experience

• Core “product management” skills - ability to understand user needs, defining requirements, influencing team members and partners, clear written/verbal communication, intellectual curiosity, ideally with 2+ years of experience

• Strong understanding and judgment to prioritize based on social impact and economic sustainability drivers

• Tenacity, drive, ownership mindset, and problem-solving spirit, including an ability to roll up sleeves and do all types of work necessary

• Excitement about Edovo’s mission

• Excitement to work directly with correctional staff and people who are incarcerated to design products with great outcomes in a challenging environment.

• Scrappy approach to make complex decisions with limited information and resources

• Previous experience gathering and turning market feedback into requirements.

It’s a plus if you have

• Experience with procuring/manufacturing electronics, handling OEMs, including abroad

• Experience with Mobile Device Management software

• Experience with technology accessibility

• Deep passion / experience around criminal justice reform, adult education, etc.

• Experience with complex project management
