SPINS Product and Operations team is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented and energetic Production Support & Operations Engineer. As a member of the Operations team, you will be responsible for operations and maintenance of SPINS Applications Suite as well as identifying, investigating and resolving top issues. You will work closely with SPINS Product, QA and Engineering groups to deliver our highly targeted, context sensitive data to CPG customers.

This position will be based in the SPINS headquarters in Chicago in the River North area. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the delivery, availability and integrity of SPINS applications and their content
  • Deploy, manage, and operate highly available, scalable, fault tolerant systems and serve as the chief administrator for these systems.
  • Ideate, design and develop scripts and processes that drive operational stability for applications
  • Creation of reusable processes and automations to improve existing deployment processes.
  • Ideates and participates in the development of tools, systems and processes that help improve product supportability.
  • Identify, verify and document irregularities in SPINS Applications and manages issues when appropriate and works with Engineering and Product Management to make sure they are addressed.
  • Provide documentation of support solutions and deployment processes.
Experience and Skills:
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years professional experience in a production support role
  • 2+ years’ with core Java, SQL and web applications in a Support or DevOps role
  • Expertise in developing & maintaining automation scripts using shell scripting
  • Experience working with web service API’s and implementations
  • Front-end development experience: HTML, JavaScript, CSS
  • Deployment experience with Unix, Docker, Apache Tomcat
  • Experience working with Cloud Platforms (Google Cloud, AWS) is a plus
  • Aware of software development best practices and associated tools (Ant, Maven, GIT, JUnit etc.)
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Stackdriver, Splunk etc.
  • Adept at learning new technologies and business functions
  • Strong problem solving skills, analytical abilities and proven design skills
  • Interest and desire to explore and learn new technologies with the ability to adapt between different environments.
  • Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills with a sense of ownership and drive to get things done.
