Who We Are

Opternative is a technology company that helps people see better. We started Opternative to provide a safe, online option for getting prescriptions between eye exams. It's a win-win for the patients we serve: eyes stay healthy; people see clearly.

Our technology connects doctors and patients in new ways and we're looking for more than just skilled and talented individuals. We are looking for outliers and non-traditional thinkers because the Opternative Online Vision Test is anything but traditional.

Our success is built upon Trust, Resilience, Empathy, Communication, and Common Goals. We put "health before wealth" and always strive to work in a manner that would "make mom proud".

Job Description

We're a small team and you will be asked to wear many hats. We expect that you are eager to tackle whatever comes up on a given day and can be ready to switch gears to topics including identifying high priority bugs or helping with in-office product testing sessions. When necessary, we hope you'll be excited to squash bugs and assist in software development efforts with the rest of the Engineering team.

  • Keen eye for UI, UX, and information design
  • Experience with project and process management but also, be OK with working on a team of one

Bonus If You Have It
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails or other web development frameworks and languages
  • Experience working in an agile software development environment or with a technology start-up
  • Experience working with healthcare products

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Health insurance, medical and dental
  • Subsidized lunches and fully-stocked snacks
  • Free eye prescriptions from the Opternative system
  • CTA pass reimbursement
  • Discounted gym membership

  • Flexible vacation and work from home policy (work hard and take time when you need it)
