OpinionLab is seeking a Rails Software Developer with strong agile skills to join our Chicago, IL based Product Development team in the West Loop.
OpinionLab has chosen Rails to build our SaaS reporting applications. As a member of our small (less than 20) but dedicated Product Development team, you will play a critical role in the architecture, design, development, and deployment of our Rails based applications and services. Our ongoing challenge is to transform tens of thousands of independant comments into actionable graphic representations in real time.

We have ongoing study groups, like our weekly “Clojure-palooza”, and a training budget allocated to each developer. What we are looking for:
We do our best to build teams with diverse skill sets and experiences. But we have found that at a minimum our developers usually need the following skills and experience:
- A desire to learn Clojure and teach Rails
- A desire to learn Clojure and teach Rails
- Have a few years of experience writing web applications in Rails
- A willingness to work in multiple programming languages
- Application of Agile Values and Principles
- Experience with test automation frameworks (we use RSpec)
- Writing well-designed, efficient code
- Incorporating relational databases into applications (we use PostgreSQL)
- Using version control (we use Git)
