As the Security Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, monitoring and designing linux based systems in an AWS cloud computing environment. You have great communication skills and excellent business insight, which will allow you work with other employees to assist in troubleshooting or providing further education on technical issues. We will enable you to conduct technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. You will ensure that the system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, while enabling team members as well as other staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, diagnose and correct issues related to operating systems, software, utilities, AWS environment and ancillary services.
  • Conduct security audits, perform risk assessments, and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Work with employees to progress technical issues and advance to senior level staff when needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation for organizational technologies, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Actively monitor systems and actively work to resolve alerts. Raise issues to engineers when needed.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree with at least one year experience in a systems administration or IT role, or 1-2 years experience in similar roles.
  • Fundamental understanding of administering and maintaining. Redhat/CentOS based linux environments.
  • Experience with antivirus and antispyware applications.
  • Exposure to networking, firewalls, routing issues, WAN, VPN, Proxy, and DNS.
  • Understanding of virtualization and cloud computing technologies (such as AWS).
  • Ability to train and educate other employees on technical and security related topics.
  • Experience using scripting languages, such as Bash or Python for automating tasks
  • Understanding of secure network protocols: HTTPS, SSL, SSH, SFTP, and SCP
Preferred Requirements:

Experience with enterprise software, including: intrusion detection, firewalls and content filtering. Experience with vulnerability scanning software. Professional knowledge as a system administration role supporting multiple linux hosts and related applications. Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methods.

Location

We became a distributed workforce in March 2020 as a result of Covid-19 and will remain distributed moving forward. Our Chicago HQ still remains but we want our team to have flexibility around when and where they work.
