Required Skills:

  • Support a physical and virtual server environment leveraging commercial hyper-visors (additional experience working in a co-located data center environment with proven record of managing it)
  • Support using Amazon Web Services (Ability to work in both a hybrid and greenfield deployment)
  • Support Content Delivery Network (Akamai support and administration).
  • Core website application support. (Application support for search and API functionality).
  • Manage server infrastructure using a configuration manager (Experience with Chef required. This includes writing new recipes)
  • Work with team of engineers providing tier 3 production support (Can make technical decisions and support them. Identify issues before they escalate and the ability to lead support initiatives.)
  • Work in an Agile and DevOps environments (Experience with Atlassian tools required)
  • Work with Project Managers and Scrum Masters, providing server and related infrastructure technical expertise (Ability to take abstract project/business requests and implement a technical solution. Change standards when necessary and the ability to automate the changes)
  • Work with peer engineering groups to identify and resolve software stack production/non production issues.
  • Produce and maintain design documentation
  • Work with senior engineers to assist in implementing new services in line with current and emerging technology requirements (Consistently takes their experiences and previous accomplishments to improve existing environment)
  • Maintain/improve levels of service for all areas under responsibility including but not limited to monitoring services and system maintenance (Experience with Nagios and/or Solarwinds a plus)
  • Serve as member of on-call for issue resolution
  • Implement and adhere to established security/compliance standards
  • Functional understanding of SAN/NAS based storage solutions including backup software platforms.
  • Participate in annual BCP and DR tests
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Live and breathe the Linux operating system and the ability to take advantage of it as well as complimentary open source software.
  • Advanced Linux troubleshooting including the ability to troubleshoot 3 tier application environments.
  • Ability to manage large distributed server environments (Experience with a configuration manager or equivalent effective shell scripting)
  • Shell scripting using shell, perl or python
  • Effectively tune linux to take advantage of different hardware profiles
  • Trouble shooting and the ability to prioritize work with limited guidance.
  • Ability to work from a ticketing system.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Agile and working with Atlassian tools.
  • Vendor engagement (management) and the ability to represent company, organization and Linux Engineering technologies.
  • Can work independently and simultaneously keep a high velocity while engaged in work that is based on company, organization, team and personal goals.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in IT
  • 2-5 years of progressive job/role responsibility in IT organization
  • 2-5 years in a position with production support responsibilities
  • 2-5 years of programming experience in C, Java or Python
  • 2-5 years of experience working with VMWare \virtualized environments
  • Experience with Linux computer infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, FTP etc.
  • Demonstrable track record of supporting linux environments that use a hypervisor and SAN/NAS.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Proven track record of delivering project related tasks.
