Vail Voice Application developers practice this belief every day when they create compelling user experiences through intelligent voice browser applications. Creating these kinds of experiences is both an art and a science and requires people with intuition, creativity and ability to imagine many different user perspectives. We'd like to add a technological leader to the team, a senior engineer that:

  • Analyzes existing architecture to make consistent improvements
  • Possesses excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrates curiosity with regards to software
  • Provides on-call support to external customers
  • Works with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues

 

What you can expect to be doing:

 

You will lead your team of software engineers to build and deliver high quality IVR applications. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of the software engineers on your team and customer solution delivery. On a daily basis, the most important responsibilities you will fulfill are to:

 

  • Develop IVR applications using a variety of technologies, including Java, .NET, VXML, JavaScript, JRuby and Groovy
  • Apply advanced knowledge of the Object-Oriented principles and best practices of software development to enhance products and customer experience
  • Perform design and code reviews
  • Learn and implement a wide range of technologies that integrate solutions with customers
  • Transition solutions to internal and external platform teams
  • Prioritize and juggle between multiple projects based on customer needs
  • Communicate with external customers as required

 

To be considered for this position you must have:

 

  • 5+ years as a senior IVR, Java or .NET developer
  • 2+ years' experience as a Lead Engineer
  • Proven track record of developing high quality software
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
  • Ability to communicate with developers, executive managers and external customers
  • Experience with VXML, ASR, Call Center Telephony and IVR development platforms such as Cisco CVP or Genesys
  • Deep understanding of the principles of IVR Voice User Interface design
  • Effective time-management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong sense of responsibility, accountability and passion about quality of work, desire to learn and take ownership
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience

 

Ideally you will also be able to demonstrate:

 

  • Experience in MVC frameworks
  • Interest in data collection and analytics
  • An understanding of multiple SDLC practices
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming languages such as Java, C# or C++
  • Working with UNIX/Linux/OSX
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, VUI Design
  • Deep understanding of the principles of IVR Voice User Interface design
