Senior Systems Engineer
The Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) is an advanced level Information Technology generalist with a concentration in Systems, Networking and/or Storage. The SSE is a broad and deep resource responsible for providing technical support of server systems, virtualization technology, storage (NAS/SAN), e-mail and collaborative systems, security access controls, data networking, backup/DR, etc. This critical role is accountable along with the other team members for delivery of services that meet clients’ technical requirements in a timely fashion. The SSE also requires personal and administrative skills such as self-motivation, initiative, time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, project assessment, scoping, estimation, time allocation/tracking, documentation, communication, and testing and solution deployment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage Netapp storage systems (cDOT and 7 mode).
- Manage and maintain the SAVO data center infrastructure of servers, storage systems, virtualization systems, data and voice networking and security systems.
- Maintain a Windows Active Directory environment including account management, group policy management, and organizational unit management.
- Manage and maintain backup systems and disaster recovery systems.
- Monitor the SAVO infrastructure for hardware/software performance issues.
- Maintain an inventory of SAVO hardware and software assets.
- Provide and maintain architectural diagrams, process documentation for all SAVO production systems.
- Provide architect level expertise as a subject matter expert in a variety of IT disciplines.
- Act as lead architect for infrastructure projects with cross functional teams.
- Provide on call support as needed 24x7x365
- Other duties as assigned
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:
The Senior Systems Engineer will have expertise in the following areas:
- Microsoft Systems Management.
- Unix/Linux Systems Management.
- Cisco core data center technologies (routing, switching, firewalls).
- F5 LTM and F5 technology stack.
- Knowledge of OSI model.
- VMware virtualization technologies.
- Netapp storage systems.
- Vendor management.
- Remote data center management (Out of band management).
- Project management.
- Backup and disaster recovery systems.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience managing enterprise SAN/NAS systems (Netapp CDOT/7mode)
- 5+ years of experience in system engineering and around enterprise data centers
- 5+ years of hands-on System/Network operations experience in a 24x7, distributed web services environment
- 5+ years working independently, managing multiple tasks and directional changes under short yet firm deadlines with a strong ability to work creatively and analytically
- 5+ years programming and/or scripting experience with one or more of the following tools: Visual Basic/Studio/C++/C-sharp, PHP, Perl, Powershell, Batch files / Microsoft server commands, WMI, SQL
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or Information Technology discipline
