 Groupon is looking for a talented, highly motivated individual to join its corporate accounting group as a senior analyst specifically focused in technical accounting. This is very much a “hands on” accounting role with interaction with different departments (international accounting teams, consolidations team, tax, corporate development, finance and treasury) across the globe. This role will have a high level of visibility within the organization with exposure to the Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Director of Corporate Accounting.

 

Core Responsibilities of Technical Accounting Team:

The corporate accounting team is responsible for assessing the accounting treatment for material transactions across the company as well as identifying processes that can be standardized and streamlined.

 

Expected Core Responsibilities of New Hire:

  • Support multiple business departments with the research needs of technical accounting issues and process implementation ensuring compliance with Company policy and U.S. GAAP guidance.

  • Assist in obtaining, validating and reviewing information provided to external resources to be used in valuations related to acquisitions and investments.

  • Assist in the preparation of new accounting policies and update current accounting policies on an as needed basis.

  • Research and remain up-to-date on current accounting pronouncements that could affect the Company and work with the team to ensure new items are incorporated correctly.

  • Prepare proper documentation of accounting issues, related matters and application of related controls as needed.

  • Perform first-level review of the Goodwill Impairment and Long-Lived Asset Impairment analyses, the monthly share-based compensation calculations and the equity roll forward.

  • Assist the SEC financial reporting team with compilation of the external filings on an as needed basis.

  • Support special projects as necessary

 

Key Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects in a fast-paced start-up environment

  • MS-Office proficiency, specifically advanced Excel skills.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA

  • A minimum of 3-4 years accounting experience; preferably with some Big 4 firm experience
