Senior Writer/Editor, Cision

Location: US or Canada 

Job Description:

As senior writer and editor at Cision, you will act as a content steward, working with multiple internal and external stakeholders to plan, create and deliver forward-thinking content for our innovative B2B earned media software and all other products and services. You will own creative briefs and bring them to life across multiple channels. You will write and edit long and short form copy for different audiences, purposes and formats. You will work with video producers, artists and photographers to create multimedia content or you will create your own. Your fun, friendly, informed approach will be as important to defining our corporate voice as it will be in offering style guidance and editing support to all content contributors. You will monitor content performance and use this information to optimize your creative approach.

Join our content marketing team in our quest to create and improve a new earned media communications stack category in the MarTech space and help us scale our content marketing message globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tell one unified global brand narrative by creating and editing content that maps to our strategy
  • Develop and maintain a consistent brand voice throughout all content
  • Effectively recruit and manage internal and external subject matter expert contributors
  • Manage content projects from start to finish, from ideation to implementation to promotion
  • Create and edit a North American blog and newsletter strategy, maintain a calendar, grow readership and subscribers, drive leads and demonstrate performance
  • Think in new ways about content: explore and understand which projects will be better served with video, infographics interactive formats, AR and more to make the industry and the world take note of Cision’s new earned media cloud (the first of its kind)
  • Support a major branding launch in 2017 by shifting content tone and appearance to match our new public persona as a cutting-edge full stack software company. Make Cision’s content aspirational for all PR and comms professionals
  • Keep abreast of news, market and industry trends, and opportunities for timely outreach
  • Monitor content performance and adjust approach as needed

Requirements

  • Firm understanding of how to captivate audiences in the B2B software space
  • 8 or more years PR, advertising, marketing or digital journalism
  • Bachelor’s / University degree in journalism, English, or related field
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills; ability to create immaculate copy
  • Ability to recruit and nurture high quality SMEs both inside and outside the organization
  • Confidence in abilities, strong strategic thinker, initiative to seek out new trends
  • A good sense of humor
  • Knowledge of or a desire to learn about multidimensional content marketing best practices
  • Adept with WordPress, HTML, Clickability, Canva, Adobe Creative, Piktochart, Google Analytics, SEO/discoverability best practices, AP Style
  • Past experience delivering results that map to organizational key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Takes initiative, is a self-starter and isn't afraid to make suggestions and share ideas
  • Strong sense and following of corporate brand identity and guidelines
