What You’ll Do

As a member of the architecture team you will primarily focus on the backend systems of our Big Data platform. We are looking for someone who is passionate about solving difficult problems at scale from the architectural design phase through the development phase. Our ideal candidate is a self-directed engineer interested in leveraging Big Data technologies to ingest, classify, aggregate, and store data for both new and existing projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural support and guidance to teams throughout the organization, both as a technical leader and an individual contributor
• Design and build software utilizing technologies such as Java, Kafka, Spark, Storm, Elasticsearch, Google Big Query, and Google Cloud Compute 
• Work closely with Devops Engineers in system design
• Assist engineering teams in solving difficult technical challenges, often coding the solution yourself

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field of Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4+ years of software development experience, focused primarily on Java development
• 1+ years of Big Data experience
• Experience preferred: Java, Linux, Postgres, Web Services
• Nice to have: experience with clustered computing such as Storm, Spark
• Nice to have: experience with NoSQL datastores such as Elasticsearch, HBase
• Nice to have: experience with cloud computing preferably Google Cloud
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Initiative, results-oriented drive and a solid work ethic requiring minimal direction
