 Position Details:

The Solution Owner will lead the overall vision of the solutions and is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the solution roadmap.  The solution owner will oversee the beginning sections of the solution lifecycle (client communications, requirements gathering, pricing, prioritization, architecture, design, and planning).  However, the focus should be on the client’s requirements gathering phase, prioritization of that outcome, and the architecture.

This person should be a technical leader with knowledge of the target market and competitors.  The Solution Owner will be able to understand technical options offered by the development team and their applicability to the desired solution outcome.  All dependencies and integration with other solutions must be managed to ensure timely and coherent delivery of value to the clients.  The Solution Owner will direct the development team which includes the development manager, architects, programmers, Scrum Master, PM, Test Team, and BA roles as applicable/matrixed.  The Solution Owner (SO) is responsible for defining work for the team and for prioritizing the Team Backlog so as to streamline the execution of program priorities.  The SO is the only person empowered to accept stories as done.  This is a critical role with significant relationships and responsibilities outside the team, including working with Sales, SBU, and other stakeholders to prepare for planning.

Responsibilities

  • Solution visionary, product design, product roadmap, and team management
  • Backlog Ownership – Is the sole owner of the Team Backlog.  Adds, updates, removes, and orders backlog items in real time.  Ensures that the backlog is current and represents known opportunities​
  • Stakeholder Collaboration– Partners with, and interacts with all team stakeholders to exchange information in a timely manner.  Serves as a conduit between the team, The client, the business, and all impacted stakeholders
  • Sales support and client management
  • Incumbent is accountable for professional working behavior to include; building and maintaining constructive working relationships, implementing proactive and concise communication, acting as a resource to colleagues, reviewing potential solutions, resolving ambiguity and engaging in collaborative thinking and problem solving while demonstrating CSG’s core competencies and values

Requirements

  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to partner with client and company leadership at all levels to understand the strategic direction, vision, backlog scope, and enterprise portfolio
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate sideways, upwards, and downwards throughout the organization (including team level, middle management, and executive presentations)
  • Ability to analyze and anticipate stakeholder needs, and to respond with appropriate guidance and feedback
  • Ability to manage the team backlog (create backlog items, acceptance criteria, prioritize the team’s work, groom the backlog, prepare for sprint planning)
  • Ability to negotiate scope and prioritize backlog with the client and team
  • Ability to review the team’s user story results and accept the user story based upon Acceptance Criteria and the team’s Definition of Done
  • Ability to contribute to knowledge/experience sharing and standards development
  • Ability to innovate and develop creative solutions
