Responsibilities: 

The Senior Linux System Administrator will:

• Quickly and efficiently troubleshoot both simple and complex issues, work with internal developers as well as external vendors, recommend solutions and/or alternatives, and perform or coordinate a resolution.
• Ensure all necessary operational processes and procedures are carried out with a high level of attention to detail, expediency and on-time delivery. Identify areas for process/efficiency improvements, and assist in overseeing implementation.
• Create and maintain system information, diagrams and detailed documentation.
• Installation of tools and other solutions for new needs, integrating it with existing systems and tools and presenting to the larger group as part of cross-training.
• Monitor various systems capacity and provide analytics & forecasts for added or reduced capacity as required.

We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years in Linux system administration in a small-medium (50+ systems) environment is required.
• Must have strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX environments, with preferences for:
  • Experience supporting SUSE (SLES 11/12)
  • Experience supporting Linux in VMware
• Hands on experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or one of the other major IaaS providers is required.
• Proficiency with deployment tools such as Kubernetes or Docker.
• Proficiency in creating software/scripts to automate systems with fluency in at least one language (including use of built-in functions and libraries) (Bourne / Bash / Perl / Python / Ruby).
• Preferred skills include:
• Familiarity with Windows support and integration.
• Familiarity with configuration management and OS customization (Puppet / Chef, etc.).
• Experience with Desired Configuration State for Linux.
• Experience with vSphere Command-Line Interface (ESXCLI).
• Experience with backup and DR procedures (Commvault, native, etc.).
• Experience with Active Directory authentication/permissions.
• Familiarity with SAP HANA.
