Technical Operations Analyst
Location: Chicago
Optiver's Technical Operations team works closely with the Trading, Development, and Operations teams in an effort to keep a healthy balance between risk and reward in our production trading systems, while still facilitating consistent technical advancement. We firmly believe in balancing a safe, orderly production environment with profitability and sustainable growth.
As the Technical Operations Analyst, you will help us achieve that goal. You will be trusted to handle a broad suite of tasks across all facets of the business. The person we seek is always mindful of risk yet still able to facilitate fast-paced innovation across the firm. If you are interested in gaining experience with both the business and technical sides of a market making trading firm, this role will provide that opportunity.

What you’ll do:
• Help to manage all technical changes taking place in the environment and gauge the level of risk associated with the daily changes
• Investigate technical incidents to understand and identify the root cause and proper follow-up actions
• Track and analyze daily incidents and trends and work with development, operations, and trading to implement short and long term fixes
• Provide feedback on the state of technical operations to management on a regular basis
• Work closely with Compliance, Risk, and Middle Office to review new trading initiatives, new products, and strategies
• Facilitate connectivity requirements with various exchanges
• Coordinate fire drill testing of various operational procedures
• Track and solve issues as part of a fast-paced results driven set of IT teams
• Work in tandem with Trading, Development, and Operations teams to drive critical cross-team projects to completion
What you’ll need:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• The ability to multitask and drive several technical projects simultaneously
• Risk awareness and the ability to identify imminent risks
• A high aptitude for understanding how technical applications interact with one another
• Ability to work autonomously
• Strong communication skills
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• High attention to detail
• Knowledge of financial exchanges and financial instruments is preferred
