UI Development Intern- Summer 2017
Instructure is the maker of Canvas, software that makes people smarter. Our User Experience Team is looking for a talented UX/UI Development Intern with a passion for combining seamless interaction with beautiful visual design and development. Your work needs to be logically organized, accessible, and in-tune with the latest web technologies. Your focus will be delivering the highest standard of usability and simplicity to the software’s end users: Educators and students. In other words, we want to delight our users with an exceptional experience.
This is a full-time summer internship with flexible start and end date depending on your school schedule. We expect our interns to work 40 hours per week for 12 to 16 weeks in the summer of 2017.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:
Experience in HTML5 and CSS concepts such as responsive layouts, semantic markup.
Conceptual understanding of presentational JavaScript.
Photoshop, and Illustrator or Sketch skills
Self-motivated with a passion for design and front-end development
Participate in finding ways to solve complex interaction and visual design problems
Play a role in the visual development of new products and features
Produce high-quality code in an iterative fashion
Learn and use component-driven design and development methods to ensure the highest quality designs and functionality
Working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
Experience with modern front end development workflows using preprocessors (e.g. babel, postcss, less, sass), task runners and module builders (e.g. gulp, grunt, webpack, browserify).
An understanding of how to write testable front end code, and the discipline to write thorough tests.
A good understanding of design process as it relates to web applications
Rapid prototyping experience (with programs such as InVision)
Wicked foosball skills
A digital portfolio of your best work demonstrating rock-solid experience in information architecture, interaction design, and code you’ve written
