About The Position

Raise is looking for UI Engineers to lead front end engineering efforts and to help shape our evolving UI technical landscape. If you are an expert at web technologies, skilled in architecting modern web applications, and passionate about front-end design patterns, this position is for you.

We create libraries and frameworks; improve code base by refactoring, updating and removing outdated code; standardize engineering-wide consistency in both code and look-and-feel. But most importantly, we execute large-scope, site-wide projects that have meaningful impact across the organization and for the business as a whole.

You will be responsible for delivery of high-velocity, high-performing web experiences that have been thoroughly tested and built to the highest standards of our product and UX teams. You will have ownership over large portions of the Raise web experience, and be able to guide our technology direction in a meaningful way.

Responsibilities

  • Help define and drive the next generation of Raise UI using the React ecosystem of tools and libraries
  • Strategize on how multiple teams’ work folds into a greater UI system
  • Work with our design and UX teams to create a code-driven system of code-driven patterns for rapid UI creation
  • Steer technical feature planning and defend the need for UI-focused technical work in a product prioritization setting
  • Work alongside backend developers to create scalable solutions that affect more than just our web architecture
  • Develop procedures to solve technical problems in a maintainable, pattern-driven way
  • Assist product managers and technical leaders in project planning and driving technical direction
  • Share, mentor and foster an environment where you and others can grow and share technical knowledge

Skills & Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of ReactJS and associated libraries
  • Experience writing code that utilizes functional programming principles preferred
  • Experience creating React Single-Page Apps
  • Technical leadership in front-end web languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), with experience driving cutting-edge web systems at scale
  • Opinion on responsive design techniques, progressive enhancement, and experience driving these techniques in a large team
  • Experience building and using JavaScript libraries and modules utilized by the engineering team
  • Ability to weigh the costs of, and advocate for, either maintaining internal libraries or open-source libraries
  • Experience working with service oriented architectures and distributed systems
  • Expert in developing complex UIs that leverage RESTful JSON APIs
  • High attention to detail in maintaining design integrity throughout the Agile development lifecycle
  • Experience using Git in a collaborative setting
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with experience interacting persuasively with business stakeholders
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines, and weigh business needs against technical concerns
  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
