The GrubHub Research team is a curated group of talented, fun loving people who are passionate about making great products. Our work directly influences product and marketing strategy and is used by multiple teams within the organization.

We’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic candidate to help take our user experience practice to the next level. This person should be a qualitative research professional, who is confident in planning, designing and executing all types of exploratory and evaluative research methods. You’ll be responsible for infusing user insights into product development, strategy, and marketing.


Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct large-scale qualitative research around users’ needs and behaviors in order to help inform product and marketing initiatives around all of our products (websites, apps, mobile web) 
  • Work closely with designers, product managers, marketers and developers to identify research topics and uncover opportunities to further improve our understanding of both current and prospective users 
  • Execute qualitative research projects from start to finish, including developing a research plan, recruiting, moderating, analyzing results, and presenting findings
  • Use a variety of research methods and tools to best reach the goals of each project in order to provide rich, actionable insight
  • Communicate research insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders in a clear and compelling way

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting applied product research (preferably for digital products)
  • Proven ability to identify and execute creative and effective user research approaches 
  • Experience with a broad set of qualitative and user-centered research methods: contextual inquiry and ethnographic field studies, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, usability testing, concept testing, competitive assessment, diary studies, etc. 
  • Preferred additional experience: remote moderated testing; online qualitative tools; survey design 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills and ability to multitask multiple projects at a time 
  • Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, quick turnaround environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in research, psychology, social science or a related field
