Overview:

Shiftgig, one of Chicago’s hottest and fastest growing technology companies, is actively seeking an User Experience Designer who has execellent analytical skills and limitless creativity. You must be comfortable generating great ideas, based on scope and requirement documents, in a fast paced agile environment; sketching those ideas; and bringing them to life in low to high fidelity wireframes. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the user experience and always has the user top of mind. The UX Designer will work with the Creative Director, Designers, Product Managers, and Engineering to help plan and execute strategic directions for projects. You will manage multiple projects in tandem with a multi-disciplinary team, estimate the level of effort at sprint planning meetings, and create deliverables: wireframes, user flows, site maps, etc. You may also be asked to develop usability test plans, execute them within a timeline, and report back with findings. You will need extensive knowledge and experience across verticals and platforms and be able to articulate your work in presentations to peers and Executives.

Responsibilities:

This position reports directly to the Creative Director (who reports to the VP of Product). The successful candidate will work on all Shiftgig’s current projects initiatives and future visioning, innovation UX ideation and user experience design.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Define user interaction models and user experience flows for new and existing products.
  2. Sketch and present UX concepts and behaviors with paper sketches, wireframes, task/workflows, simple working prototypes, or whatever form best communicates your ideas.

  3. Communicate UX design solutions to multiple development teams through prototypes, detailed specifications and similar types of communication documents.
  4. 
Advocate for a preferred solution to user problems with logical, well-reasoned arguments supported by qualitative and / or quantitative evidence.
  5. 
Become expert on our users’ needs and our products’ success meeting those needs through a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  6. 
Stay fresh on UX best practices across platforms and serve as the in-house expert on them.  

Qualifications:
  1. 4-5+ years experience developing and implementing web and mobile user experiences, preferably with experience in-house or agency on a product team
.
  2. Experience designing for native mobile apps, responsive browser experiences, and  web apps.

  3. Excellent judgement and communication skills, including presentation skills.

  4. Highly collaborative and -- should conflicting priorities arise -- know how to proactively seek guidance before a crisis develops.

  5. Exceptional collaborative team player with the ability to rally teammates around proposed solutions.

  6. Independently motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  7. Passion for great design

  8. Extremely detail-oriented down to pixel-perfect implementation.

  9. Experience with dynamic prototyping or clickable modeling tools.

  10. At a minimum, familiar with capabilities of: DHTML / JavaScript / AJAX / CSS / XHTML / XML

  11. Startup experience preferred
