Performance Engineer II will serve as a principle Engineer within Peapod Digital Labs DevOps, Automation and Performance Engineering team. This role is an experienced technologist and technical partner to the application development, quality engineering, operations, DevOps, automation, security, and infrastructure teams. Performance Engineer III will collaborate with and bring considerable strength to a team of experts in end-to-end and performance testing, with extensive knowledge of highly-scalable software systems, who will be responsible for building capabilities for monitoring the performance and availability of the entire Peapod Digital Labs portfolio of applications.

• Define the Performance Engineering Maturity model in alignment with Agile Transformation goals.
• Define, drive and implement impactful additions and enhancements to monitoring and performance testing all PDL applications.
• Work with other in Quality Engineering teams within the DevOps & Automation group to ensure that all production systems are properly tested and any identified issues remediated
• Collaborate with the development and engineering groups to track changes to software and systems that might impact performance and provide guidance on best practices and techniques for building to scale.
• Work with Product organization to develop strong KPIs, usage patterns, and business objectives and implement coverage in performance tests with thorough and relevant results reporting.
• Leverage Application Performance Monitoring tooling for establishing continuous monitoring process
• Identify and establish report & dashboard functionality to report performance tests and metrics to development teams as well as technical and business leadership.
• Work efficiently to support mitigating performance risks of deliverables across multiple scrum teams, parallel releases and multi application dependencies.

• Design and implement performance measures in CI/CD pipelines
• Provide expert technical guidance and ongoing engineering design review to teams planning and implementing large migrations, service-oriented architecture, broad architectural shifts, and capacity growth
• Design and implement to iterative improvements to blameless incident management processes, root cause analyses, outage prevention, and service recovery strategies across the engineering organization
• Partner closely with Development, Security, Quality, Operations and Product teams to achieve high priority security, privacy, compliance, reliability and business-continuity objectives on our overall roadmap
• Propose and drive large improvements to production systems to achieve significant improvements for our business and engineering teams
• Mentor less senior engineers to help them progress in the Performance Engineering practice and improve the overall strength of the team

The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients 

• Extensive hands-on experience with performance testing of Mobile, Web, API, DB, and supporting infrastructure (e.g. network) using testing tools, mobile app testing platforms and deploying these solutions to achieve strong performance, scalability, reliability and high quality in software releases.
• You have the skills to implement load, stress, performance and reliability testing standards at scale to improve service, platform and infrastructure resiliency.
• You have expert level root cause analysis skills in troubleshooting performance and scalability issues.
• You have an expert ability to engineer high performance and scalability from project and feature inception through development and production.
• Building and leveraging application logging frameworks to surface critical performance data.
• Ability to instrument effective performance engineering practices in a cloud based computing infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure or similar as well as on-prem.
• Ability to partner with all teams from the beginning of the Application delivery lifecycle to the end to ensure a thorough Performance Engineering approach to delivery.
• Curiosity and applied skill and creativity in implementing new tools and technologies to improve performance.
• Ability to write code and leverage tools that enable measurement of critical KPI's that ensure and improve the highest application performance.
• Deep knowledge of test tools such as LoadRunner, Gatling and Apache JMeter as well as APM tools such as Dynatrace, App Dynamics or similar tools.
• You have experience building mobile testing capabilities by building Mobile Device Labs that facilitate performance engineering.
• You have experience in implementing automated code quality gates to shift quality left in development lifecycle.
• You have proven capability in deploying performance test solutions that can provide high level of test coverage in least amount of time leveraging various methods to cut down test optimizations.
• You have the skills to implement load, stress, performance and reliability testing standards at scale to improve service, platform and infrastructure resiliency.
• You have leveraged various testing in the wild and end user testing platform like Applause for integrating real user feedback early into product development process.
• Experience with automation, performance, API, DB testing tools and platforms and deploying these solutions to achieve strong reliability in software releases.
