About the Team
Uber Advertising's vision is to offer the most marketplace-centric advertising to connect Uber's platform users (eaters, riders, and earners) with advertisers. Uber Advertising's platform brings together location based and shopping data with closed loop attribution across its mobility and delivery channels for performance and brand campaigns, enabling advertisers to engage with our consumers through the entire marketing funnel - from awareness through purchase to loyalty and advocacy for Uber users.
At Uber, we have set up a new Uber Advertising division to spearhead the growth of its advertising business. By building a dedicated advertising organization and a suite of advertising products, Uber Advertising will enable merchants and brands to reach and convert its highly engaged user base across its Mobility and Delivery platforms in 32 markets.
About the Role
As the Head of Ad Operations & Optimization, you will be responsible for the global Ad Ops process including Campaign Management, Ads targeting, Ads delivery & optimization, Ads Measurement, tracking & reporting. You will work closely with cross functional partners including Sales, Account Management, Programmatic, Product, Engineering and Marketing teams. This role will report into the Global Director of Ad Operations, Uber Advertising.
This hire will strive to build relationships across Uber advertising teams, ensuring ad revenue commitments and client expectations are met and exceeded. You will be responsible for enhancing revenue growth through the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of go-to-market ad product strategies, programs, systems/tools, and initiatives. This is a consultative position in which creativity and flexibility are required to find optimal solutions for our revenue-generating advertising activities.
What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop an Ad Operations & Optimization team delivering detailed direct and programmatic ad execution across media properties; includes day-to-day team management, as well as goaling, coaching and fostering career development
  • Seamlessly work across multiple channels as well as planning, delivering, and optimizing toward awareness and performance driven critical metrics
  • Partner with Sales leadership to drive yield and inventory analysis on an ongoing basis and suggest best ways to implement inventory strategies
  • Develop a comprehensive set of systems and processes to support the delivery and management of partner campaigns
  • Recruit and lead a large global team of premier digital operations & optimization advertising talent
  • Oversee aspects of the ad campaign launch and delivery of all media for our advertisers, to ensure revenue commitments and client expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Critically evaluate our current processes, overhauling these where necessary to drive efficiencies and improve team performance
  • Implement effective and efficient processes and technical solutions to lead and monitor the measurement and optimization of all campaigns against client performance goals, and report client performance
  • Prioritize product feature requests to influence the product roadmap and drive enhancements for internal and external users
  • Establish full funnel ad metrics and dashboards to generate data driven ad insights
  • Work with Product & Engineering to identify changes to internal Ad systems / tools that reduce the occurrence & impact of bottlenecks affecting delivery scalability, and improve the efficiency & quality of ad campaigns.
  • Identify, communicate, and execute against opportunities for incremental revenue based on historical demand and seasonal influences
  • Analyze demand channels performance and industry data to deepen our understanding of trends and deliver practical insights; make tactical recommendations for achieving revenue goals
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence to automate regular ad campaign reporting to drive sophisticated analytics and insights for our customers

Basic Qualifications

  • Business administration degree or equivalent hands-on experience working with advertisers or media and creative agencies
  • Minimum of 7 years in Ad Operations, AdTech/digital advertising or equivalent experience at a data-driven, technology company.
  • 4+ years of people management experience
  • Expertise in working with ad servers SSPs, Ad Exchanges, DSPs, verification and data tools
  • Must have MS Excel and Salesforce proficiency
  • Must have Experience with VAST/VPAID/HTML5 ad formats
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.com or other CRM

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in operations at a creative or media agency, media provider or big advertiser
  • Knowledge of DFA/DCM, Sizmek, Innovid and various third-party video ad serving platforms strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of publisher monetization technologies for display, video, and audio - including GAM, header bidding, programmatic operations, affiliate marketing, and Digital Media
  • Experience working with data management platforms (ex. Krux, Cxense, etc) and analytics tools (ex. Google Analytics, ComScore, etc).
  • Data driven thinking and excellent quantitative skills
  • Core operational understanding of critical campaign components such as brand safety guidelines, ad viewability, and filtering for suspicious and/or fraudulent media activity
  • Analytical, data-driven attitude with proven experience in data modeling
  • High standards and a bias toward action. You can find the context and information you need through relationships across the organization, you push for clarity and delivery, and you hold a high bar from your contributions and those of the people you work with.
  • Experience leading teams within a highly complex, matrixed organization
