Primary Function:

This Creative Content Artist is responsible for creating a high level of creative imagery collaborating with the merchandizing and development team under the direction of the Creative Lead. This artist will also contribute to the creative design development of the overall artwork look and style. He or she will be responsible for working independently on tasked projects and offering suggestions and solutions for both creative and technical hurdles.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize 3D modeling, mapping, texturing, lighting techniques etc. to create visual elements
  • Review 3D arts and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Create 3D models from photos and real-world objects
  • Troubleshoot problems on reintegration of outsourced assets into the 3D arts
  • Attend team meetings to discuss art related issues, work progress, etc.
  • Perform online research for project development
  • Manage several projects simultaneously without compromising the standards
  • Submit regular feedback on project status
  • Ensure to meet high artwork standards
  • Provide assistance on graphic technology
  • Understand project requirements and develop cost effective graphic designs using available technology and resources
  • Understand all aspects of Grainger Tech’s publishing processes and systems
  • Inspire and support team members, accept personal responsibility for the project deliverables
  • Monitor deliverable progress, manage scope changes and changes requests, meet commitments, follow up, and be on time

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in photography retouching, animation, and/or using a leading CGI software platform such as Maya or Modo
  • Knowledge and experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as Solidworks or Autodesk a plus
  • BS/BA degree in photography or animation is preferred
  • Excellent written and oral skills; collaboration with business partners in Merchandising and software product management is critical
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Strong modeling skills: experience reading and working off architectural plans; reading and working with CAD drawing files; experience with polygonal modeling
  • Strong texturing skills: ability to map geometry; manipulate UVs; adjust textures using Photoshop; create high quality/high resolution tile-able texture; create photo realistic shaders and animate textures
  • Lighting and Rendering skills a plus
  • Animation, Effects, and/or Compositing skills a plus
  • Excellent working relationships with people in a wide variety of functional areas
  • Demonstrated Collaboration skills
  • Excellent listener
