As the head of the Creative Department, the Creative Manager will manage the Creative Team through the lifecycle of all events while actively working as a team member on projects.

 

This person is a proven leader who is organized, flexible and has a great sense of process. S/he has extensive experience in production management, mastery of video editing and motion graphics, and extraordinary attention to detail. S/he will manage a growing team at varying levels of experience and schedule teams on projects accordingly.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creative Department Management (60%)

    • Supervision & Mentorship

      • Manage and support a growing team of creative specialists (including on-site crew such as camera operators, DPs, as well as post-production team members) through mentorship, continuous feedback, and identification of external opportunities for growth and skill development

      • Evaluate team using quantitative metrics, providing thoughtful and motivating performance reviews

      • Interview, hire, and onboard creative specialists; source and hire freelancers as needed

      • Work in tandem with other departments such as Account Management, Production, and Tech to ensure project success

    • Operations

      • Directly oversee team process and workflow, ensuring deliverables are met in a timely manner and at pixel-perfect quality levels

      • Assign staff thoughtfully and strategically to projects, understanding when, how, and what specialists to assign, and in what ways to flex to achieve project targets

      • Evaluate existing operating procedures, fine tuning them and developing new processes and OPs that improve efficiency and creativity

      • Elevate the status of the existing Mainstream creative portfolio by identifying low-effort, high-impact ways to improve end products

      • QC everything going to the client to ensure that it meets all client, creative and legal requirements 

      • Maintain, ship, track, order, and repair production equipment including cameras, computers, microphones, lights, etc.

  • Creative Specialist (30%)

    • Project Work

      • Participate in multiple projects simultaneously in various roles such as Director of Photography, Producer, Director, or Media Manager

      • Contribute to conversations about content execution, providing key Creative considerations and insights

    • Mentor / Educator

      • As subject matter expert in different fields, share knowledge with colleagues and establish useful training tools for future reference

  • Etc (10%)

    • Support internal Marketing initiatives by creating design assets including pitch decks, podcasts, live streams, marketing videos, landing pages, and social content 

    • Attend conferences and network within industries to build relationships with prospective clients and contractors

    • Provide a creative lens to the development of the Mainstream Virtual Production Studio 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Mastery of the entire Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition

  • Mastery of digital video production equipment and associated workflows, including 4K/HD cameras, jibs/sliders, lights, audio, teleprompters, and comms

  • Knowledge of AV production equipment including PAs, projectors, switchers

  • Basic broadcast engineering knowledge - scalers, converters, cable runs (SDI/HDMI/fiber/ethernet)

  • Basic IT knowledge - IP management, Firewalls

  • Web design - HTML, CSS, WordPress 

  • Experience with live production workflows

  • Position will be split between a remote work environment and at our studio 

  • Under normal, non-pandemic times, some travel will be required

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years’ experience in television or at a creative agency

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Photoshop, Audition, After Effects, Illustrator)

  • 4-5 years management experience in a creative environment

  • A strong portfolio of creative work
