Job Description:
The Digital Content Specialist will create and manage digital content required to inform and train end users of Caterpillar applications in the subscription and billing domain.
Responsibilities include development, maintenance and oversight of online application help and training portfolio for defined applications and web sites. Act as a subject matter expert related to the use of application software and processes for onboarding and training of users. Represent customer, dealer and Caterpillar users and implement strategies for communicating and learning to ensure highest user understanding of application functionality as well as associated end to end processes required for success of related user roles. Provide web content management consultation and help to ensure the implementation of brand, legal, information security and document retention standards within the content delivered.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Work with multiple internal teams to obtain a thorough understanding of assigned applications and upcoming software releases.
  • Create high quality documentation and other deliverables appropriate for its intended audiences, ensuring accuracy, highest comprehension and timeliness.
  • Participate with internal teams in defining online help, training and web strategies and new capabilities to meet the needs of the content owners/creators and user audiences.
  • This may require consultation with the content owner regarding the business needs and platform subject matter experts to ensure development of a solution that has the best usage of content management techniques, and overall web strategy fit.
  • Review content appropriateness and placement to author content for the desired results.
  • Potentially assist in developing standard templates and processes that make it easier for content collection and for the end users to find and understand the content.
  • Maintain knowledge of the search optimization principles, technology and the integration of potential
    multiple on-line channels. This may include benchmarking with other sites and technologies to gain understanding of what is possible to create an effective and engaging web presence for the user audience.
  • Maintain knowledge of data governance for the web site.
  • Maintain knowledge of functional technology of the authoring system or tools as they change with upgrades and new releases.
  • Conceptualize ideas that will improve the delivery of content to the user audiences which may include support from creative marketing resources to develop any applicable marketing assets for the website, and collaborate with marketing team to regularly supply application specific content or consulting to support user notifications.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics for all websites of responsibility, including content creation and quality around keywords, descriptions and titles, as well as site performance like visits, pageviews, time on site/page, and bounce rate.
  • Ensure compliance with the latest web development standards supported by the company, and brand,
    legal, information security (data security and privacy compliance) and document retention standards
    within the content delivered.
  • Understand content update schedules and ability to prioritize work to achieve the desired results in authoring to meet those schedules.
  • Digital Content Specialist will be able to take direction for other content related duties as provided by the leadership team.

    Engagement, Timeliness and Cost Savings.
  • Minimal travel required (less than 10% of working time)


BASIC QUAILIFICATIONS:

  • The position typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience.
  • This position should have had three years of Digital content authoring experience or other equivalent job experiences.


Top Candidates will also have:

  • Knowledge of company products, services, product applications, dealer network and their business model as well as a global business understanding.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and imagery
  • Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work environment with others inside and outside the department along with very strong written and spoken communication skills in English with a variety of audiences.
  • The work environment requires an individual to be well organized and self-driven to determine the appropriate approach to the content authoring needs for each of the requests.
  • The individual should have solid process management skills to understand the design to authoring life cycle of projects.
  • The individual should be creative in providing solutions for the web experience.
  • Desirable background would include working experience with HTML, JavaScript, XML, and JQuery and have used Dreamweaver, Photoshop, WalkMe and Madcap Flare.
  • Basic familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle, Agile and experience producing content within cyclical timelines.


This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL offices with flexibility for partial remote work from home when we return to office.
