Position Overview

The primary function of the Resource Specialist is to create user guides, release notes, FAQs, and reference materials for a suite of HR software solutions. Create client materials in a variety of formats including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Powerpoint, PDF, and HTML for new product releases. The Resource Specialist should also be proficient in writing logical software instructions and editing screenshots.

 

The Resource Specialist should have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong relationships with cross functional partners and stakeholders. This position will work closely with internal product owners and software developers in order to understand product functionality and product use cases in order to create user guides. The Resource Specialist will need to learn our products and should also show interest in learning our new software including our publishing tools as this position will need to work with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy of help content.

 

This position must be able to work independently, meet established deadlines and be willing to review materials based on peer feedback and software enhancements.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Master the web-based payroll and HR software product and be the primary writer
  • Learn the basic concepts of the additional products
  • Use critical thinking skills to create, develop, write, and edit complex technical documentation, including product help text, user guides and manuals, and performance support tools for publication
  • Edit documentation for style, clarity, consistency, and adherence to company and department guidelines
  • Incorporate product information and procedures into Knowledge Management system (PEAK)
  • Attend early user information sessions about new product releases, provide suggestions and critical feedback
  • Participate in peer review meetings showcasing your materials
  • Software user testing, logging issues, and making suggestions for changes
  • Assist in user testing for new and enhanced features and become a subject matter expert on new release information
  • Special projects as assigned

Experience and Skills:

  • Prior writing experience of 1+ years
  • BA/BS degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite - Word, Power Point
  • Experience writing release notes, user guides, and help text for a software product using RoboHelp or similar content management system
  • Knowledge of changes and enhancements in the software and technical feature documents
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong listening, written, and oral communication skills to ensure you understand what is needed for each piece of documentation
  • Time management proficiency with focus on project deadlines
  • Ability to quickly grasp and understand complex applications and translate that information into various formats to educate various audiences
  • Prior technical writing experience preferred
  • Must be able to provide writing samples
