POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Millennium Trust team is looking for a Manager, Brand Journalism who brings an editorial mindset, passion and creativity, and strategic vision to lead the firm’s storytelling efforts. Working in partnership with the VP, Communications, our lead storyteller will play a critical role in the setting and driving the brand’s purpose-led brand narrative both internally and externally. Created to help bridge our internal and external storytelling efforts, the Manager will help ensure our narrative is authentic, rooted in purpose, and driven from Millennium Trust’s values. To find success, this person must be an excellent writer and curious and creative, uncovering and telling the countless stories of Millennium Trust. New ideas, fresh thinking and a knack for storytelling are must-haves.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Build out this functional capability for the brand, owning the tactical execution for the firm’s Brand Journalism function.
  • Build out and drive the editorial calendar.
  • Serve as a bridge between Internal teams, helping drive a consistent, cohesive, and impactful narrative.
  • Write, develop, and edit narratives to help increase brand awareness and sentiment among key external stakeholders.
  • Write, develop, and edit internal communications ensuring consistent articulation of brand themes, company values to effectively engage employees
  • Coordinate and recommend associated assets (i.e. photos, video) for each story; oversee creation as needed.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams – inside and out of comms – to create content that resonates with key audiences and media and can be amplified via social.
  • Present and socialize the editorial calendar to partners and leadership, on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee analysis and develop metrics to assess impact of stories; make recommendations and adjustments on narrative, channels, and audiences as appropriate.
  • Keep a pulse on industry news and be always-on for storytelling inspiration.
  • Develop messaging content for Town Halls, interviews, and panels.
  • Work with the VP, Communications, on vision, tone, and development of each storytelling opportunity.
  • Manage executive involvement (storymining, feedback).
  • Set workback schedules, own timelines and approvals, and coordinate publishing/recording.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing Communications, Journalism or related area
  • 7+ years of applicable experience 
  • 1 - 3 years of leadership experience 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; particularly, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with SharePoint
  • Experience working with Salesforce, Content Management Systems and Marketing Automation Tools
  • Team player with the ability to bring creative energy, share thoughts and ideas, and possess a positive attitude
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Excellent writing skills and editorial planning combined with speed, flexibility, and attention to detail.
  • Message development that leverages multiple platforms including digital content, mobile and social media.
  • Ability to write for multiple audiences (media, B2B and B2C), channels and vehicles (news releases, internal executive communications, video scripts, intranet, and website content, etc.)
