Objective:

As the world's leading sports content and Technology Company, STATS distributes content that includes the latest news, headlines and photos, as well as player notes and match commentaries to a global online audience. Seasoned writing and communication skills, a topical expertise of sports with accompanying news judgment, a familiarity with content management and a strong sense of organization that allows you to juggle a variety of news-related tasks across mediums are a must. The department ultimately owns all the company's text and image product assets, consists of a handful of fellow editors and reports to the Manager of News Operations.

What You'll Do:

  • Help oversee 365/24/7 live coverage based on daily and seasonal sports action.
  • Manage content in our overall top stories and sport-specific headline packages. What's the most important overall story of the moment? What's the top story for each individual sport? What photos should we attach to each story to help the reader best visualize what's happening? What events do we need to have on our radar?
  • Further STATS as a differentiator with original content creation, whether it be contextualizing our next-gen data with an editorial complement, creating broadcast news briefs for radio stations across the country, breaking injury news with fantasy implications or producing stories for our nationally renowned FCS destination site.
  • Oversee our AI-powered player-performance notes while looking to aggressively push the boundaries of automation across other editorial-based products.
  • Participate in a cross-continental project that involves sourcing, processing, renaming and resizing team and league logos and player headshots across multiple sports to ensure all rolling league deadlines are met and coordinated with client expectations.
  • Monitor all content for factual or grammatical errors to uphold content integrity. Accuracy is paramount in every piece of copy produced or redistributed.

What You'll Need:

  • A proficiency in AP style.
  • A degree in journalism, writing or a related field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom with an ability to make quick decisions.
  • A deep topical expertise of a wide range of sports, domestic and international.
  • Schedule flexibility. Night, weekend and holiday shifts required.
  • Core technical chops, including a familiarity with CMS' and standard media file types.

Who We Are:
The values at STATS mirror those of foundationally great teams and franchises. Our objective is to win through effort, creativity, team-work and positive energy. Specifically, we look for candidates that embody the following: Be All-In, Put the Fan at the Center, Get Stuff Done, It's Your Team, Make an Impact, and Fearless Integrity. We want employees that crave responsibility, accountability and want to have fun working in a collaborative, Get Stuff Done environment.

  • Put Fan at the Center: You enjoy working with customers and have the strong communication skills to make those interactions a success.
  • It's Your Team: You embrace others' ideas (even if they conflict with your own) for the sake of the company and customer. You are a collaborator, and relationship builder.
  • Get Stuff Done: You are driven and your can-do attitude inspires others to elevate their performance in a fast-moving environment.
  • Make an Impact: You thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and you're excited by the chance to play a large role.
  • Be All-In: You must be passionate about what you do and about our customers' success.
  • Fearless Integrity: You are self-motivated and capable of holding both yourself and others accountable to deliver on multiple tasks.
