Sr. Site Editor, QA & Digital Publishing:

Primary Function:

The Sr. Site Editor maintains all technical aspects of the weekly Maintenance Project, including running the ticket accounting system and generating publishing reports. He or she manages all technical needs of the team (including macros, templates, and technical support) and updates all systems and reports as workflows and processes (both within and outside the department) change. He or she also assists in onboarding new team members and in training existing team members on new processes and projects, and acts as another resource for site editors’ questions. In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, the Sr Site Editor also fulfills the responsibilities of the standard Site Editor position.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the weekly Maintenance Project ticket accounting system and generate publishing reports
  • Manage all technical needs of the team (including macros, templates, and technical support) and update all macros, templates, reports etc. as workflows and processes change
  • Publish digital content to the live sites when the QA & Digital Publishing Manager is unavailable to do so
  • Support the onboarding of new team members, ongoing training, process improvement, and the implementation of new department processes
  • Assist in problem-solving issues that prevent team members from moving forward with their work. At times, collaborate with other departments to resolve the issues

Site Editor:

  • Review digital presentations within the assigned project/section prior to publishing to the site to ensure adherence to publishing guidelines and quality standards
  • Identify and clearly communicate what areas of the presentation need improvement before it can be published.
  • Work with our cross-functional partners to make improvements and resolve issues
  • Coordinate updates and workflow issues across departments
  • Review and support hierarchy, grouping, naming, and other guideline adherence during the category review process
  • Identify opportunities for the publishing guidelines to be clarified or extended as new site features and content are encountered
  • Promote knowledge of the publishing guidelines by working with upstream departments to communicate how the guidelines affect their work
  • Inspect individual changes to the site to ensure that the appropriate actions have taken place across all departments, that content continues to meet publishing and quality standards, and that no errors have been introduced in the process
  • Flag when team resources need to shift to meet deadlines and work with teammates to rebalance the workloads
  • Lead special projects as needed, documenting SOPs and training team members on best practices

Preferred Education & Experience:

Education:

  • BA/BS or equivalent required

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience of digital site editing, print editing, copy editing or writing experience
  • Advanced VBA / Macro / reporting skills
  • SOP, training material, onboarding creation experience
  • Process improvement experience
  • eCommerce, direct marketing, or catalog experience
  • Industrial distribution experience
  • Experience translating technical product information to a non-technical eCommerce presentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Experience with workflow software (JIRA or similar)
  • eCommerce platform software (STEP (Stibo Enterprise Publishing), Endeca, or other systems)
  • Ability to work in deadline-driven environment and handle multiple priorities at the same time
  • Customer focused
  • Strong judgment and decision making skills
  • Attention to detail
