Position Summary
The Advanced Data Engineer is a key position within the Data Management team, responsible for the design, development, test and implementation of best-in-class ETL/Data Processing solutions for the organization, including batch and real-time data integrations. This advanced role will be engaged in all phases of the Data Enablement lifecycle, and will be called upon to mentor less experienced team members as necessary. Successful candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating in-depth technical and business knowledge.
Key Accountabilities

  • 70% of time: Design, develop and maintain data warehouse and analytics architecture to meet the enterprise's business analysis and reporting needs. Involves creating best in class, high performance ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS and MS SQL Server 2016 and higher. Develop and support new and current ETL processes employing industry standards and best practices to enhance loading of data from and into different source/target systems.
  • 10% of time: Process complex large data sets (semi structured and unstructured data sources) in a single-node or multi-node Spark cluster with Scala or Python.
  • 10% of time: Serves as resource to internal and third-party team members on escalated issues and analyzing and designing specifications for less experienced team members
  • 10% of time: Pursues self-development and effective relationships with others by sharing resources, information, and knowledge with coworkers and customers. Seeks opportunities to deliver continuous process improvement


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, MIS or other quantitative field
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience or Masters with 3+ in Data Engineering - designing, implementing data persistence, data processing and MS SQL Server DW Solutions.
  • Experience with full Microsoft BI stack (SSIS/SSAS/SSRS). SSIS is must.
  • Expert in SQL Server Data Warehousing, SSIS ETL development, Strong Python or Scala.
  • Design and Develop Conceptual and Logical data solutions for data acquisition, data models and pipelines.
  • Experience with integration of ETL development with TFS and Azure DevOps for CICD deployment.
  • Experience in building ETL Pipelines (using SSIS) for data flows from various internal and external sources into the SQL Server Data Warehouse platform, including building dimensional DataMart's.
  • Experience with dynamic package configurations, error handling, checkpoints, auditing and balancing using SSIS and T-SQL Stored Procedures.
  • Strong understanding of DW concepts including 3NF and Dimensional data models.
  • Perform peer reviews and take ownership of the ETL processes that supports database driven Web Applications to ensure quality of data in downstream data marts.
  • Experience in building ELT pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse in modern data analytics platform.
  • Experience with processing large volumes of data in big data cluster (Spark ecosystem).
  • Experience with processing semi structured and unstructured files using big data spark eco system is preferred.
  • Experience with Spark and Scala is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment and interacting with data professionals and business data SME's throughout the organization
  • Desire to work in a fast growing environment with strong time management ability
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be self-directed and have excellent initiative and organization skills.
  • Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Experience working in the financial services industry or other highly regulated environment is desirable.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2019 Big Data Cluster is a plus.
  • Experience with building CICD pipelines using Visual Studio and Azure DevOps is a plus.
