Position Overview:

The Catch Company is looking for an Analyst to support our Data team. This is a multifaceted role where you will:

1. Expand and improve our use of data:

  • Collaborate with functional leaders to identify new strategies for using data to make better decisions and improve our customer experience
  • Build the data models and tools to execute on those strategies

2. Own our Customer Insights function:

  • Conduct hands-on research on our customers’ demographics, preferences, and behavior
  • Become the go-to resource for questions about who are customers are, what they like and don’t like, and how they shop for fishing gear

What you will do:

  • Work directly with functional leaders (marketing, operations, product development, etc.) to identify new ways to use data to make better decisions.
  • Build, improve, and debug our data models, with the goal of expanding and improving the data available to our employees (we use Redshiftdbt, and Looker).
  • Collaborate with business users to identify new opportunities to use machine learning to predict customer behavior and automate processes.
  • Create data-based tools that help our team delight our customers or make our business more efficient.
  • Develop materials for investor presentations and board meetings.
  • Manage and prioritize a backlog of questions about our customers’ demographics, preferences, and behavior; answer those questions using a combination of on-site testing, large-scale customer surveys, and individual customer interviews.
  • Be a scrappy problem-solver; identify ways to improve or fix things using novel technologies or methods.

 

REQUIREMENTS

What experience you need:

  • Experience in a quantitative/analytical role (e.g., consulting, finance, corporate strategy, analytics, etc.)
  • Experience using SQL to query and manipulate large datasets
  • Experiencing visualizing data (via Excel, Tableau, or another tool)
  • [Optional/Preferred] Experience creating, distributing, and analyzing large-scale surveys
  • [Optional/Preferred] Experience working for or with eCommerce/direct-to-consumer companies

  • An interest in / passion for the outdoors (fishing knowledge not required)

Location

Our HQ and engineering lab are located in Chicago's trendy West Loop neighborhood, but our culture is now remote-first. With the exception of our industrial designers, we have a fully distributed team across the United States!
