Primary Function:
The Business Analyst is responsible for the lifecycle management of technology assets. The IT Asset Analyst ensures that all IT assets (hardware and software) are properly tracked using defined processes and tools. Using defined processes, the IT Asset Analyst will work closely with vendors to optimize management of expenses and track compliance to company policy. They identify and act upon cost saving opportunities, maintain accurate inventory, manage operational events, review contracts, present detailed monthly reports to management.
The preferred candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills as well as strong interpersonal and effective communication skills. They will have strong curiosity and an ability to drive insights from data - synthesizing not only what is happening by why it is happening. This individual must be a team player with the ability to work across and with many team members in various functions and levels.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the procurement, receiving and disposal of IT assets and capital appropriation requests (CAR) development and execution
  • Oversee IT Asset inventories (end point devices, peripherals, etc.) in ServiceNow to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Ensure proper procedures and controls are in place to improve IT Asset compliance to reduce unplanned purchases or maintenance expenditures
  • Perform audits, research, and analysis for departments and/or business units and provide monthly reporting
  • Develop effective reporting tools and provide detailed monthly reporting to management in all areas of responsibility. Emphasis is placed on collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Provide recommendations for cost savings and/or efficiencies.
  • Manage relationships with key providers and partners and report on performance
  • Develops solutions to business problems by defining, analyzing, and documenting requirements
  • As required, facilitates requirements gathering sessions to aid business partners in properly exposing and articulating their needs.
  • Conducts industry and internal research and analysis and applies best practices to Grainger
  • Enables effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format; Has an opinion as to what a correct decision is and can influence the engineering team
  • Creates artifacts and delivers data-driven recommendations easily digestible by business and technology partners.
  • Helps lead tactical planning discussions.


Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Project management skills, ability to multitask and manage several concurrent projects
  • Analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-starter - show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete data
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and data presentation skills - including an ability to work with senior business leaders, technical stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize multiple types and sources of information into action.
  • Stakeholder management skills and the ability to push back respectfully to get projects completed
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
