Primary Purpose:

Responsible for working with key business stakeholders to coordinate the design, development, and delivery of data and business intelligence assets, semantic layers, KPI’s, and other advanced analytics capabilities using modern analytical and business intelligence tools.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership on business intelligence platforms and strategy
  • Develop strategies and drives execution of business intelligence priorities
  • Manage data collection, mining and analysis activities
  • Work with the BI team and the leadership team to moving the goals towards completion
  • Translate business requirements into technical architectures
  • Participate in leadership meetings and special projects
  • Engage with internal business partners and act as a visible, positive change agent in the organization
  • May involve managing a business intelligence team

 

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 10+ years of demonstrated advance proficiency in SQL and BI development methodologies
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent consulting skills and the ability to work effectively with business and technical team
  • Provide thoughtful leadership around business intelligence, reporting and performance management
  • Define and oversee the full development lifecycle
  • Experience leading projects, technology implementations
  • Ability to think "out-of-the-box" to design solutions that meet client needs, stay within their budget and utilize available staff
  • Relational Database (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Postgress, Other analytical databases)
  • Analytical Platform (Microsoft SSAS, SAP Business Objects, Tableau/Qlikview, SAS)
  • Relevant hands-on development experience in the following: SharePoint Server, power BI, Qlikview, Tableau, SQL Server
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of ETL Tools (Microsoft SSIS, Informatica, SQL stored procedures)
  • Expertise in Reporting and Analysis Tools (SAP Business Objects, Microsoft SSRS, Power BI, Tableau/QlickView)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI and/or SAP Business Objects universe/IDT development, Web Intelligence reporting
  • SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL)
  • Patterns and Best Practices in data warehouse design (Kimball, Inmon, etc.), Extract, Transform, and Load
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

 

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Business of Computer Science
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Server SSAS (Analysis services - cubes)
  • Industry (Insurance) and functional (e.g. Finance, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, HR, etc.) expertise
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Experience in advanced analytics and/or visualization technologies
  • .NET/Python/R
