The Role: In a Nutshell

We are looking for a Data & Analytics Director with an insatiable desire to design, develop and implement data solutions including  a comprehensive data strategy, a robust data-driven engagement and outcomes framework and data-driven business solutions.  This data insight  will not only enable the development and testing of hypotheses on the behaviors that drive weight loss and help find patterns that predict who will or will not lose weight, it will also help us manage and grow our mission-driven business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire data science team.
• Develop and execute a data strategy and roadmap tied to business goals.
• Collaborate with bright colleagues in various functions such as Operations and Account Management  to derive business insights from our data assets and to develop data-driven solutions to business problems.
• Use analytics to understand drivers of engagement and sustainable outcomes.
• Develop predictive and optimization models and machine learning algorithms to elevate the effectiveness and efficiency of our solutions.
• Help transform our products and user experiences with highly predictive and personalized and automation.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of data and analytics processes and documentation.
• Upgrade business and customer reporting tools.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses to unlock data insights.
• Champion innovative data science ideas and approaches to Retrofit leadership and data team.

What you need

• Master’s Degree or PhD in related Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Information Technology or Computer Science fields
• 10+ years data science experience delivering growth-driving data insights and quantitative business solutions
• Expertise in database systems, data mining, machine learning, predictive modeling, statistics, storytelling and data visualization
• Demonstrated ability to convert data into knowledge and knowledge into actionable insights.
• The ability to look beyond the numbers to understand how users interact with our products.
• Proficiency in processing large data sets stored in traditional SQL and NoSQL data sources,
• In depth understanding and experience in different machine learning algorithms and designing and coding new algorithms from scratch
• Ability to produce quick prototypes applying machine learning algorithms and capturing feedbacks for improvements
• Expertise with data analysis languages (Python and/or R)
• Knowledge of open source big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop and Redis.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud)
• Technically savvy and intellectually curious
• Inspiring, visionary leader, collaborative team player and doer who is adept at attracting and retaining top talent
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with a remote team
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
