What you will do.

The SPINS Product and Technology teams include product development for internal and client-facing applications, data operations, data sourcing, master data, data science, custom reporting, design, engineering, data content quality and compliance. This position reports to the VP of Data Governance and will work on projects that cross multiple teams within the SPINS Product and Technology division.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy prototype applications for internal use, such as data asset catalogs, data lineage and data dictionary.
  • Pair with (XP) and share best practices with product development teams.
  • Introduce data pipeline automation for continuous data quality audits and alerts
  • Write scripts for one-time data-intensive analysis of new data sources or to provide data for data science teams
  • Build a collection of Jupyter notebooks for data operations teams to use for data quality review and approval

 What You Bring

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Demonstrated competence with large structured data sets, both relational and JSON
  • High degree of proficiency with SQL including parallelized queries on partitioned data
  • Experience with cloud-hosted data stores, databases, and other data serving layers
  • Experience with low-latency APIs and high-volume/high-latency batch operations
  • Ability to work with fast-moving Agile or XP software development teams
  • Willing to learn and to use a variety of tools and languages to get the job done
  • Python required; node.js preferred; GraphQL happily welcomed; some flavor of unix is a given.
  • Expertise required in back-end data pipelines and data transformations
  • Able to use CSS, content management, and metadata collections without panic
