The Data Governance Manager at VillageMD will ensure our analytics and business users’ success in leveraging our vast, unique data environment to drive clinical, operational and financial outcomes. They optimize functionality at the intersection of our two greatest assets – our people and our data. They function as a subject-matter expert in translating our quickly growing wealth of data into the raw materials for insights that are used directly in our clinics and apps. They collaborate closely with analytics and business users and data engineers to create and maintain the atlas to our data world.  

How you can make a difference  

During your first year, you can expect the following professional challenges:  

• Build out an infrastructure and forum to inform analytic and business users about new and changing data in our expanding data environment, including both structured and unstructured data. 
• Create processes to capture definitions and metadata on all of our data proactively. 
• Ensure the maintenance of reference data, including universal and proprietary code sets and mapping source-specific to standard codes.  
• Notify users of and assist with troubleshooting data issues. 
• Collaborate with our data engineering team to convey and enforce data naming conventions.  

Skills for success  

As a successful VillageMD Data Governance Manager you possess: 

• Strong analytical and data skills/aptitude  
• Clear thought, concise communication, and a drive for constant collaboration.  
• Excellent ability to craft and maintain metadata for both technical and non-technical audiences  
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment, find peace in chaos, and absorb information quickly.  
• A low ego; an ability to gain trust by doing what you say you will do  

Experience to drive change  

• 5+ years of full-time experience working in an analytical, reporting or data management role; healthcare data experience very strongly preferred 
• Undergrad degree with a concentration in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics or engineering 
• Experience in data management in a large analytic environment desired 
• Strong proficiency in SQL 
• Expertise in Tableau is a plus
