Director, Consumer Insights
This position acts as an internal consultant to key decision makers and directly influences key strategic and tactical decisions. This individual uses and applies all sources of consumer data and knowledge, determines when primary consumer research is appropriate, determines the objectives and methodology to be used, and provides objective interpretation of this information taking into account overall company strategy and goals and their overall knowledge of the business and of consumers. This position shares accountability for the selection and maintenance of analytical tools and technologies. This role is accountable for the approach and methodology chosen to address specific consumer or business issues, is accountable for the quality and integrity of work performed by both their internal team and suppliers, and assures that cost and resource efficiencies are achieved and that work is conducted within budget constraints.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and provide ongoing leadership to a strong, capable team that meets or exceeds the Company’s consumer and business insights goals
- Lead team that delivers a superior understanding (competitive advantage) of our customers, their behavior, attitudes and motivations, explains business results and improves decision making processes
- Define professional qualifications, assure training needs are defined and met, and provide ongoing coaching and technical mentoring
- Provide ongoing counsel and thought leadership to key clients and other key decision makers as appropriate regarding proper interpretation of all insights and potential consumer response to actions being considered
- Develop consumer insights business reviews, documents and opinions for forums including Sales Meeting, OLT, Executive Team, Quarterly Marketing and Leadership Team meetings
- Guide the insights capability to aid in directing that strategy and diagnosing the success of implemented strategies
- Assess feasibility of meeting requested learning objectives given the available data
- Provide leadership of potential analytical techniques and approaches including optimal test design
- Provide thought leadership on the overall measurement of the customer relationship contributing to the selection and ongoing usage of campaign management tools
- Create and maintain relationships with data partners, digital campaign service providers, and Ahold USA Consumer Insights team
- Promote overall best practices including serving as the advocate for the private, secure use of customer information
- Monitor retail and consumer trends and determine implications for our business
- Continuously innovate approaches to research by staying abreast of industry developments and programs related to research and proactively exploring opportunities to use these methods where applicable
- Lead insights and analytics projects and requests
- Specific activities include defining project objectives, deliverables and timelines; defining appropriate data sources and metrics; overseeing the analysis of results; synthesizing information across all data sources, and providing key findings and recommendations that are actionable to the business. Assure that all work leverages a comprehensive set of available information sources and tools
- Provide input and significantly influence the direction of our marketing and competitive strategies
- Participate in the development and deployment of our go to market strategies and tactics, conduct primary research where appropriate, and provide performance reporting and diagnostics that improve our execution and understanding of consumer impact
- Work with business leads to clearly understand and articulate the business issue, and be able to identify the relevant facts and convey a clear conclusion and recommended set of actions based on them
- Define roadmap for long-term CRM needs, including data capture, system and integration requirements
- Provide forecasts for key performance metrics such as traffic, conversion, and revenue based on marketing program variables, historical trends, and various what-if analyses including projected funnel performance

Qualifications:
- Outstanding skills in all areas: Oral/written communication, presentations, initiative, negotiation, attention to detail, customer focus, analytical Focus, strategic planning, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Strong Project Management Leadership
- Advanced analytics and statistical methods
- Deep understanding of E-commerce and Consumer Package Goods industries
- Knowledge of and in-depth experience managing projects that incorporate the various methodologies and data sources used in a consumer insights environment. Ability to synthesize data, present actionable recommendations based on that data, and influences all levels of management to implement recommendations. Extensive advanced math / statistics skillset.
- Proficiency in using SQL, working within data warehouse and using business intelligence / visualization tools (Tableau, Domo, Business Objects, Pentaho, Microstrategy or similar)
