What you will do.

The SPINS team for Retailer Data Production operates the data pipelines and produces data for our client-facing reporting applications. In this position, you will manage a team that onboards new retailers, ingests their POS data, and cleanses, enhances, aggregates, & delivers that data. You will partner with the architecture, design & engineering teams who build and continuously improve the pipelines and reporting applications. Within the larger context of our Product and Technology organization, your Retailer Data Production team works closely with teams that focus on data content quality, master data, data governance, custom reporting, data science, client success, and user support.

 SPINS is experiencing rapid growth. You will help your team to manage change by focusing on scalability & resiliency, process reproducibility, and data-driven process measurement.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of team members including hiring, scheduling, performance reviews and coaching.
  • Set clear goals that enable the team to meet client data delivery expectations.
  • Build capacity, capability, scalability, resilience and reproducibility within the team.
  • Use a manufacturing process mindset to identify, measure, and improve data production processes.
  • Collaborate with our data quality team to identify data quality exceptions before clients do.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design & engineering as they develop and continuously improve our internal applications for ingestion, enhancement, modeling, aggregation and publishing.

 

What You Bring

 While your talent and experience matters most, we have to mention these qualifications matter to us:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in technology, statistics or science
  • Experience in organizations where data & insights are what we sell to clients
  • 5+ years as a manager including performance reviews and OKRs (objectives & key results)
  • Experience with a manufacturing process or process improvement mindset
  • Ability to understand both aggregated and disaggregate data with statistical measures
  • Competence in tools such as SQL, Unix, and job orchestration
  • Prior experience balancing priorities from multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team through significant change of skills & responsibilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication with co-workers
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail

 We’re even more impressed if you bring along your:

  • Exposure to XP or other Agile engineering teams
  • Experience with the integration of AI and ML models into production operations
  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (or AWS or Azure)
