The Role

In this role the Metadata Manager will be empowered to build out our Metadata strategy as a key pillar within our Data Quality program, ensuring that we are treating data as a valuable asset upon which our data science models and service offerings rely.

You are excited to brainstorm uncommon solutions to common data management roadblocks, and willing to push the envelope on the possibilities for automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and implement the development and/or selection of metadata tools and dashboards.
  • Establish sourcing and access patterns for enterprise reference data.
  • Partner with Engineers and Data Stewards to establish data principles and technical data standards.
  • Lead technical conversations with domain architects, engineering teams, application developers, data-scientists on solutions and issues specific to data / information architecture, especially around metadata and data quality objectives.
  • Create and execute the mapping and documentation of data sources and data movement.
  • Provide support on use of common enterprise information models and promote their use and enhancement by new products.
  • Participate in solutions for integrating metadata and data quality processes into agile methodologies.
  • Create and socialize a common Business Vocabulary / Taxonomy for the business; drive the design of non-invasive data governance processes to manage our Critical Data Elements.
  • Support the identification, stewardship and governance of data and information across the enterprise.

Job Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Proven experience with taxonomy / ontology design.
  • Experience with implementation of data governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated pattern of leadership.
  • Skilled with data integration patterns.
  • Proven experience with metadata management tools and processes; experience with metadata management .
  • Demonstrated experience in data management; Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) preferred.

Nice to have:

  • Demonstrated experience with Avro / JSON / XML schema design Working knowledge of API Management is preferred, leveraging Apigee is a plus..
  • Experience with Hortonworks DataFlow (NifI, Kafka, Storm, Atlas) and Hortonworks DataPlatform (Yarn HDFS) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the data science lifecycle and tooling (R, python, etc) is preferred.
